Sweet Child

Inspired by Glen Hughes song - Child in time

Entry for Glen Hughes Contest

Sweet Child, you saw things you shouldn't have had to see
Guns, knives, blood and so much more
The screaming, the silence, no safe people around
You were blessed with human angels, light in all the darkness
Guiding you through the terror, nightmares and anxiety
You found your safe places outside, where no one harmed you
Where nature took its course and provided you peace
Your mind allowed you to detach, long enough to survive
The pain, the loss, the harsh reality of evil
You found your way and here you are, shining
Giving, thriving, creating, grateful for each moment
All in your castle of a new life, that only you could build

Dear Heidi, I am a victim of childhood abuse who has seen a lot. I could very much relate to your poem. I know God has protected me and guided my path. Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel
