Sweater

I had wished-
to build a castle
and I did it,

a sandcastle,
on the islands of
dreams, under the thick

eyebrows of the sun
of yesterday,
tomorrow, and today

with my soul,
mind, and
thought,

but the waves,
of Posiedonias, rippled,
forcefully erasing

the mark of innocence
into adulthood,
yet the “I” in me was

not intimidated. Now I build
no more, not of castles,
nor of fortresses,

but I do weave
and right now, I am weaving
this sweater of

tropical words,
for you,
to wear, someday.
