Swans

Calm was the sea where I stood, The rays of the sun like daggers incising the waters Now and then a small breeze disturbing the stillness Nothing could disturb the blue sky not even a small cloud. The sandwich I was eating filled me up, Waste not and the piece of bread thrown into the water….. Within a second a school of sardines surrounded the food As a parade of glorious proud swans appeared Detaching lunch was ready. As Swans are often a symbol of love and fidelity, And because of their long-lasting, apparently monogamous relationships, I felt somehow disturbed to see them behave as wild hooligans Fighting for their hunger.
