Swan V Phoenix

The swan in me wanted to die
The phoenix in me asked why
The swan in me couldn't say
So the phoenix said not today

Every time I hit the verse
I felt like I was living a curse
Everything I said so real
But I could never heal

Every time I went backwards
I felt disingenuous in my words
Like nothing I said was true
But something started to brew

The swan in me said it was too late
The phoenix said redemption is fate
The swan in me asked why
The phoenix didn't want me to die

Every time I stepped outside
Deep down I just wanted to hide
The sun burned too bright
I wasn't ready to fight

Every time I drank liquor
My heart became sicker
But I'm finally ready to grow
And this I can show

The phoenix in me loves me
The swan had to reluctantly agree
With two halves I became whole
And it truly saved my soul
