Survivor
When you look at her,
You'd think you'd find her face under true happiness
By the way she brightens up the room with her smile
And turn your frown upside down,
Only to hear the sound of her soft sweet laughter
That you can only adore in this world of silence,
With a voice that can't be forgotten
And is listened to when hearing a beautiful melody,
By the way her head is held up high
While the sway of her hips sings beautiful musical lyrics,
But what lies under the beautiful brown skin of hers is a hurt woman
That can't find it in her heart to yell out the words of hated love
Only because shes frightened of his attack to come again
With painful memories running through her mind,
And then it happened again
He yells at her, she yells back
He back slaps her
Threw her in the room
Began to suffocate her while choking her,
Thoughts of having one more breath to take runs her mind
Then he pulls his arm back and punched her
Leaving her body black and blue, bleeding purple while her face swells up with tears
And to think that no one listens and cares
She finds that voice in her heart and begins to yell,
"He says he love me
But yet beats me
I'm sorry I never told you
But I wanna be just like you and survive too"
