Surviving After Dreams

there's a blemish
tainting my beautiful dreams
the dreams I cherish
with their lovely themes
       the stain of despair
       on delicate fabric
       making me aware
       of just how tragic
this life can be
when dreams become faded
leaving only reality
and a heart so jaded
       as the blemish grows
       and the stain does spread
       a freezing wind blows
       through my heart and head
my soul screams
protesting the loss
of comforting dreams
the beginning of all chaos

Reality is a harsh slap in the face, isn't it, Christy. Don't despair, tomorrow is another day:)

It's nice to think that dreams can come true, but unless they are something very easily obtainable, that it usually not the case and reality does seems to rule the day. But still, you never know and you should never quit dreaming. Sad but well written Christy.
