Surving Suicide Made Me Stronger

I have a very sad story to my life. A life of depression. Not feeling worthy. Family fights. I got it in my mind that I was better off leaving the world behind. Surely it would go on without me. 5 attempts Later. It took me to see. The world had a lot to offer me. I began to live again. What could have killed me made me stronger.

I have learned to accept people as they are, and not try to fight for change in them. That has helped me.

I read this poem with a lot of happiness that you are still with us and that your attempts failed and you have found reason to stay on this earth and experience more of what life has to offer you. I have been a bystander to a sibling who went through a suicidal period, it was one of the most gut wrenching experiences of my life, because I felt so powerful to help him. I appreciate your openness to write about such a heartbreaking truth. Thank you

Old Buck hit the nail square. No one has ever survived suicide, it is final. Many survive an attempt is all. If He ain't done with you, He ain't done with you. Your job is not over. You have proved that by posting here. God Bless. D.

Heather: This is no place for me to preach and I won't, but if that is a "self portrait" all I'll say is: He isn't finished with you yet. :o) Stay strong and thank you for sharing your words with all of us on the soup. oldbuck
