Surrender

I saved you, I saved you-
now you owe me your life.
Your pain was overwhelming-
and I took away your strife.
I replaced all your pain-
and I took away your sorrow.
Supplanted it with numbness-
(now your emotions empty, hollow.
you thought you could escape me?-
Tell me, why do such a thing?
I've only tried to help you-
with the hell that this world brings.
You thought you had control?
Oh, what a foolish sort of notion.
you signed your life away-
to cure your pain and your emotions.
I lift you up so high-
so you don't have to feel so down.
Let's face it and be honest-
without me you'd only drown.
You can't handle your own-
that's why you come crawling to me.
So desperate for my help-
I'm now the reason that you breathe.
The reason you wake up-
I am the reason you're alive.
you truly would do anything-
to catch another high.
It really is pathetic-
but you flatter me the same.
You breathe more life into me-
when you pump me through your veins.
You'd do anything for me-
throw your hopes and dreams away.
Do anything I asked of you-
you're my personal slave.
You can't elude my grasp, you fool-
so don't you even try.
You'll forever do my bidding-
remember: you owe me your life.
So, do not disrespect me-
don't forget, I have the power.
It's you who came to me-
when you were in your darkest hour.
You signed over your soul-
(when) you came seeking out my help.
You cannot take it back-
you have no rights over yourself.
So, when you think of leaving me-
it's important you remember
your life is in my hands-
your chained to me, so just surrender.
