Surfing With White Whales
Surfing With White Whales
Today a heavy sky above the sea shimmers
From white washed black to emerald surfing
The matching torrents of deepening waters
Lost in the distance of a bated rains marauding
And countless pristine whales
Are breaching their pure white flanks
Diving with the wind by coastal funnels
Beneath the clouds in their grey and weighted ranks
Single beach line bird goes wheeling
As a forgotten song through the glooming light
With the white whales falling and rising
Disappearing out of sight
Out beyond the break wall and the harbor
The edge of the world defies belief
Darkly they roll for a century of murder
And a million white whales cruising beneath
