Surface Tensions
Surface Tensions

Surrounding yourself with court jesters
Will not elevate your IQ
Engaging no one but supporters
Does little to broaden your view
Stay leery the lib'ral dimension
Which seeps like an incessant tide
Unconquered, though captured red-handed
Insouciance their constant disguise
As sycophants silhouette secrets
From verity's solar-hot gaze
The moral facades of the wicked
Have stingers submerged in bouquets
Your hearth begs a vigilant watchman
To foil any plot to invade
But sentries are naught without power
Of armaments meant to dissuade
A surface of elegant beauty
May yield but a squid, quid pro quo
So hitch not your raft to a bauble
But anchor it deep in the soul
