Supercilious

Sometimes we are cruel
Sometimes we are unjust
Sometimes we say hurtful things
and wonder why the sudden lack of trust.

Sometimes we fake an apology
Not because we feel remorse
But because it's better to save face
Than to be ignored

We talk so much about others
Refusing to see faults of our own.
We forget to be kind to one another
and as evidence has shown

We fancy ourselves infallible
'Til our weaknesses are made known
Then we weep the desperate weep
'Cause we are then forced to stroll through life alone

How very true! An honest poem that strikes a chord with me, as it is only as I grows older, that I am able to take a brutally honest introspective look at myself and my past behaviour and action! Thank you for an honest poem, and for a poem that asks us all to peer inside ourselves! Gritty but necessary. Keep writing :-) Cheers, Scribbler

thank you so much ;) honesty is a virtue few of us possess but perhaps hurt guilt and a lot of things would be spared in us if we made honesty a priority - Maddie P.S. you write wonderfully really enjoy your poetry thanks for sharing
