super serious war poem

bang, bang.
boom, boom.
ow.
the rifle bullets ripple and tear through the trenches.

bullets riddle my body, it hurts,
quiet literally, I'm in pain.
bullets run out in spurts.
fiery hot bullets rush my chest like a train.
ouch.

bullet ripping, running soldiers,
dodging bayonets, they raid our trench.
we run and hide behind a pile of boulders,
we camp 'til the end; rain downs the camp's drench.
dead.

Freddy Mitch's poem is nothing short of a breathtaking triumph of modern war poetry, a masterpiece that commands attention from its very first explosive syllable and never loosens its grip. The opening—"bang, bang. boom, boom. ow."—is astonishing in its simplicity, immediately throwing the reader into the deafening chaos of battle with a rawness that feels completely unfiltered and authentic. Rather than relying on ornate language, Mitch understands that the brutality of war speaks itself.
