Super Mommy Brings Them Late Every Day

Super Mommy has rolled out of bed late. Arrives to the elementary school in her fuzzy yellow ducky p.j.'s. She brings her children in late She gets highly indignant, mean, And super angry if questioned about Why they are late on a daily basis. After a while they stop coming. They have missed three weeks of school Because they were supposedly sick. No doctor’s excuse. Oh, did she not tell us? They moved also. When proof of address is required, it is usually the Same address. They come in, blinking their eyes after A full night of whatever happens in their world. We feed them breakfast, and lunch, And send them home with fruit in their Backpacks in case they get hungry. Wondering whether they will Be back late tomorrow Or at all….

Ilene, we have some who walk in with a phone to their ear, motioning to a frustrated teacher they do not have time to talk to her, and walk out again ignoring her pleas completely.

Having gone to parochial school decades ago; I understand why they might be trying to teach the children about punctuality with their demands but, how can it possibly teach them if their parent's keep dropping the ball; they're bound to think the teacher is just knit picky.

It's a sad world out there, Caren. I really liked this poem. Maybe because it reminds me of how my ex would always bring my kids late to school. She was so bad that they allowed my kids to stay after school to make up their work. Thank god they made it through and all have decent jobs. She was terrible

It is awful for the children who are horrified, and humiliated, and sometimes get lambasted by an insensitive teacher who does not seem to remember that a first grader and a kindergartener cannot drive a car.
