Super Heroes
She sees the world
and how it bleeds
just a mother on her knees
scrubbing the floors of centuries
a little food
for the children's mouths
a little comfort
in her world of doubt
another day when meeting ends
is just about working out
Although her man
is doing what he can
his tired eyes
all his smiles can’t pretend
a brief respite
from the demands
days end at home
once again
with his love
a little time to spend
time too short
with the children
And with early mornings alarm
he grits his teeth
all his strength
lays next to him
asleep in their beds
before the sun has cracked the sky
he wonders why
it’s all just a struggle
to survive
A little rest
some time to spend
to lay in the havens
of his womans arms
a little time
not to pretend
that heaven was a place
they only imagined
All the news tells them
how the world will surely end
today, tomorrow
don’t know quite when
the machine that hums
to the blood and bone jig
fiddle de diddle
and riddle me this
And the cost of their living
is steadily rising
everyday it’s the same
the clockworks of surviving
everyone out there
in the battleground
only acquisition to choose
between super heroes
Fall or stand
battered by insanity
stand or fall
is the only demand
lift all the injured
up from societies battlefield
carry them to sanctuaries
make sense of it all
And with life's monument
chisel their names
under duress
heroes all
did they give their lives
in the hope to gain
for themselves
nothing at all
