Notes About The Poem

For Joseph May's Pyramid Poetry Contest

#43 on the Top 100 New poems list as of Aug 27, 2026

SUP

SUP is to lightly dine. Though farmers would sup on a light meal like soup, Sup now is short for “Wassup?” “It's no winner chicken dinner!”

A clever little clarity pyramid. I've made the soup, your turn to washup.

Dear Andrea, d I love how you took a single three-letter word and exposed a centuries-long shift in human culture with a wink and a nod. Blessings my friend, Daniel

Ohhhh hahaha this is so clever dear Andrea, the instant thing that came to my mind when I read your title "sup" was "soup" lololol weird enough and then coincidentally you have mentioned soup! If feels like a poetrysoup feast ~ and we poets have seated for the light meal (😂😂❤️❤️) and then wassup was the next incredible addition. So brilliantly youv crafted this and I love how you've shown the words inclination over the years from its original meaning.. sending you starlight and moonbeams ~ Best wishes always! Huggssszzz 🧜‍♀️🧜‍♀️💫💫

When I saw SUP on your poem list, I immediately cracked up because I heard the 'wassup' version in your voice. The best part of this is the cute image of you with applicable gestures saying, w'sup? I don't know what J May's prompt was, it doesn't matter because I love this poem. I just talked to Liz and truly needed the laugh, thank you. Check out potd

Andrea, your amazing poem cleverly plays with the meaning of "sup," contrasting its historical context with its modern slang usage. It has a playful tone and captures the evolution of language in a whimsical way.
