Compound Word Verse
Created by Margaret R. Smith, it consists of five 3- line stanzas, for a total of 15 Lines. The last line of each stanza ends in a compound word, which all share a common stem word. The stem word Must be used in the title. The syllable count is 8,8,3, with a rhyme scheme of aab, ccd, eef, ggh, *iik OR cck*

Slipping o'er the edge of the Earth Sol awaits dawn for His rebirth each sunset, and his descent dooms day to die, its crimson blood staining the sky at sundown. The moon's pale sphere of mirrored light discreetly disappears from sight at sunrise, when dawn's lance pierces the darkness dissolving its shield of starkness with sunshine. And as sunbeams intensify, Sol's brilliance blinds the mortal eye with sunlight. (Compound Word Verse) 05/02/2020 Compounding The Verse Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Joseph May

Emile, this poem is a great one to read aloud, with all the 's' and 'd' words. I especially liked line 4 and also dawn's lance piercing the darkness. Excellent poetry and a worthy win. Congratulations, my friend ~ John
