Sunset View

Roiling
magenta
purple gray
brilliant orange
ever-moving
sliding past
a tree arms raised
in eternal praise.

Moment to
moment it moves
ever-changing,
now its a scarlet appearing
deepening
the layers of clouds
opening like
portals in
the cathedral
of the sky.

Now darker
darker gray
ever-deepening
the white fluff
that has become
full of shapes
moving faces.

Ah ...
there is yet an opening
of late twilight
blue
a promise of sun
to return
the sailor's delight.
