Sunset on Golden Gate Bridge

(A Thomas Kinkade painting)

Beauty captured
in artful strokes
where sandpipers dance
and sea lions sunbathe
as the sun sets
in the bright horizon
faraway
invoking dreams
mingling with destinies

floating sailboats
passengers watching
in a trance
the rustic romance
between the sea
and the sun
the ocean water
ignites
sparkles

waves reflect
the sky
set on fire
colourful clouds
move softly
above
the Golden Gate Bridge
standing tall
contrasting
the beauty
of nature
with the tenacity
of man-made structure

I don’t know the painting, Joanna, but I get the image clearly from your ekphrasis poem. I feel Ekphrasis is effective when the seer simply states the reflection. Well done in the Contest. Great Love.

Haven't seen his painting (must look it up) Went on a boat trip some years ago and sailed under it, a magnificent piece of engineering. Tom

I love this wonderful write from you. I love the pretty cards from Thomas Kinkade. I have a couple of his cards. Too bad he died. Have a very blessed/fun day writing away....................
