Sunflowers Enough

and this prosperity of what is dull?
what is definitely commonplace?
the repetitive
the redundancy
the massification of nonsense in the form of words
so many birds and horizons and ocean waves
sunflowers and moonlights and scorching suns
we will all be so interested
in the leaves of grass and insects?
as beautiful and interesting as they are
we are doing all this
just to hide the hole inside the soul
the blade of truth is sharp
and the sentence of the guilty is unforgettable
I'm not even complacent with myself anymore
the demanding
the critic
I'm looking for the definitive
the torturous and necessary philosophy
that could finally light up
our dark roads of naive travelers
lost and anguished
in the tedious mire of comfort

Wow! The two lines that particularly intrigued me were "We are doing this just to hide the hole inside the soul/the blade of truth is sharp...." So true, Marco, and expressed in this manner is chilling. I also found the phrase "in the tedious mire of comfort" exceptional.

This is a fair point, Marco. How many Spring has Sprung poems can we write, lol? Of course, a topic in a contest could direct people to "torturous and necessary philosophy". Another idea would be under Forums/Collaboration, getting people to post quatrains or verses or whatever under a specific topic. We did this in a silly fashion with Limericks, but I think the concept would apply to more serious things. Keep posting, friend!
