SUNFLOWER

Sunflower I am a sunflower, tall and proud, standing tall in your garden, My petals are bright yellow, like the sun shining above, My stem is strong and sturdy, with leaves that dance in the breeze, I stand tall and tall, with my head held high. The birds sing sweetly as they flit about my petals, drinking in my nectar, The bees buzz around me, collecting pollen from my stamen, The butterflies alight on my petals, their wings fluttering with delight, Even the chipmunks gather near me, scurrying about my base. As I stand in the garden; I see the other flowers around me, There are roses, with their delicate petals and intoxicating fragrance, There are tulips, tall and stately, their colors bright and bold, And there are daffodils, with their cheery yellow blooms and tall, graceful stems. As the night deepens, a moon shines bright, The flowers all sleep, as the crickets chirp their song, But I remain awake, a sentinel of the night, I watch over the garden, as the hours tick by and as the dawn breaks, I greet the day anew. ©® Coker Favour A.
