Sun Flower

I remember when just a dehydrated seed

felt abandoned until moisture from Earth

warmth from our sun gave me life, germination

had begun, I grew, push through the moist soil

secured with my roots, thriving, growing every day

stronger, nutrients from Mother Earth giving strength

rays from our celestial star encourages me to grow

larger to produce limbs and pollen for pollinators

seeds for reproduction, food for birds, pleasure

for my human friends that care for me with food, water

until my massive head begins to droop and cower

my seeds fall to the floor to produce another sun flower.

The cycle of the sun flower. GREAT job, Roy. I do love that flower. WE used to have some by our mailbox and my dang husband tore them up, calling them weeds. I wish they were still there!
