Summer's White
I hear the finely powdered wings
Of a beautiful, white butterfly
Make gentle sounds as they beat,
Soft, as a bride's contented sigh.
Like a pretty, summer snowflake
Dancing upon a breeze
It makes my frown turn to a smile,
This sight puts my heart at ease.
I watch a solitary, creamy-white cloud
Drift aimlessly, lazily by
Like a tiny boat, slowly sailing
On a ocean- like turquoise sky.
My cares float along with that cloud-
If only for half-an-hour;
Peacefulness envelopes me as
I experience its calming power.
Enthralled am I by these two delights
Though simple to others they seem,
Yet, I cannot ignore such soothing sights
That make reality of many a dream.
Do, hopefully, they will return
To continue their pleasing therapy -
Summer needn't be all bright colours,
Just summers white will satisfy me!
