Summer's Relief
the heat of summer dripped down my spine
and tears dried in my eyes,
the sun was harsh and so was life
a lesson learned in time.
the leaves turned the boldest colors
and in one final sweep
summer's sorrow was blown away
and winter came to sleep.
an icy breath blew through my lungs
and once again i felt anew,
for it reminded me of winters past
and that a balance still rang true.
