Summer's Longing
She longed for his company each summer's day,
He couldn't appear because he lived far away.
The days they had known another and were fair,
They shared a love for friends and fresh air.
Nature's conquest and a love for mankind,
Their days and nights really rhymed.
He was an intelligence that she needed by her side,
A passion that lived and that she had to hide.
Much more complex than before,
A novel written behind the closed door.
A poet by nature, what the great poets write about,
Love retrieved with memories rare and uncompromising.
Simple patterns of living, escaping to a different realm,
All the while they never leave and simply be.
