Summer Water Weapons Forty caliber water gun Holding off the summer heat To lay in wait behind the hedge Then beat a hasty wet retreat. Super soaker weapon of choice Beneath the scorching summer sun Secret cache given away when Drippy footprints circle back in fun. Squirt guns douse the O.K. Coral Gunslingers in flip flops Stand off at the hot street corner A sneaky planned ambush to stop. You're on! Meet you on the front lawn at fifty paces! The contest theme is so serious I just couldn't get inspired. Then I remembered how summer disputes were settled in my neighborhood especially one hot night when kids battled with any available squirt gun and parents filled the buckets! It was a moment of true community, shared laughter and peaceful resolution. Thank you for your visit - delightful message! :)"

Hi Tom! So happy you enjoyed this poem! Thank you! Agreed! When our boys would get into it I made them sit facing each other until they worked it out!
