I have been invited to a celebration, A Midsummer Solstice says the invitation; On June 21st the sun's power will be at its zenith, That is scientific not just a witches myth. The invitation asks me to bring my amulet, There will be an altar quite elaborate; With dried herbs, seashells, summer fruit and flowers, And the colors blue, green and yellow have powers. It all begins at noon when the sun stands still, In the evening we will light a bonfire on a hill. A candle burns all day to honor the sun, Sun, fire we will praise you until the day is done; In the bonfire burns lavender, sage and basil, Many invited- from far off places they travel. The sun gives all living things support and life, Around the fire dancing shapes and colors rife; Turn your face to the sun and evil falls away, A summer solstice- oh, what an inspiring day. Did you know Wicca is a pagan earth spirituality, A religious craft that gives each member harmony. _____________________________ May 29, 2016 Poetry/Rhyme/Summer Solstice Copyright Protected, ID 16-795-933-0 All Rights Reserved. Lovely BW. I wrote one but it doesn't rhyme so I didn't enter. I haven't posted it either.
