This senryu is sooo cool and clever, Paul. I like reading the other talented poets/poetesses do the short forms like senryu. I appreciate the skill it takes to write short form. Putting a novel inside a pamphlet requires real parsing skill. Very nicely done. Much love to you.

Thank you for the insightful comments, Freddie. These short Japanese forms are not as easy as they look; I'm still getting to grips with them. Regards // paul

Easy to see why this won 1st place. Congrats are in order, my friend. Have you ever considered writing a short book of short form poetry?

Thank you Timothy. Up to a year ago I hardly ever gave these short forms much importance; it's only in recent months that I realized how much there is to learn about them. A book would not be a bad idea...! ~ Regards // paul

congrats on your 1st place win, i can see why andrea placed this first, it conjures such a lovely snapshot image...funnily enough, the one i'm writing for her current contest is about sunflowers, but i'm too wordy for these very brief forms, i view them mainly as writing exercises

Hi Charlotte! Thank you for a pleasant visit. Let me guess...you're writing a quatrain, tanka or triolet...I will go and check it out later on. I like short forms, but it has only been in these last months that I started learning more about haiku/senryu. ~ All the best....paul

Dear Cherl, it's lovely to see you back:) I understand that after surgery the body takes time to recuperate, but I am sure that soon you will have your strength back. In the meantime there's nothing wrong with taking it easy:) After this experience I suggest a title for your next poem: "Heart to Heart". ~ All the best....paul

Hi Mohan! In summer, by noon it is usually too hot, and one tends to feel void of strength; an hour's sleep works wonders:) Regards // paul
