Summer Rispetto

Today this pressure cooker heat takes our wind And hands are used as fans to cool our faces. Cloudless summer skies let UVA's descend And salty perspiration leaves its traces. A smelted feeling of being baked alive, If not for sheltered shade we would not survive. Twilight brings a respite from Apollo's fire. As moonbeams dare to fill our hearts with desire. 7-20-18 Summer Rispetto Contest. ~N/A~ Sponsor Barry Stebbings

I'm not familiar with this form, but I love the contents in yours - the imagery is outstanding. This must be the one we talked about on the phone. I think its a great poem throughout with a perfect closing line. Love ... CayCay

We kind of share the same type of humid weather Frederic. I think you may have it worse except when the wind changes and comes in fron the south bringing with it the volcanic smog we call VOG! Cheers, Connie : )

You've aptly described the intense summer heat. Love the ending, because no matter how hot the day, there is always romance found in the moon. :)

Yes this summer heat is perverse. Not much of a break here at night either. Sticky! Wonderful poetry, Mrs Connie. Nothing like the moon to steal one's heart:)

Winters can be pretty bruttle if you live where it snows Mike. Those are the folks who usually enjoy summer most. I miss the four seasons which is why I write about them so much. Thank you my friend. : )

Thank you Arthur. The main reason I don't complain about summer is because I get to see my 6 yr. old granddaughter so often, as I care for her when school is out while her parents work. Cheers : )

This poem is burning hot; it is like a sauna here, so pressure cooker made so much sense. I appreciate your magical imagery. Good luck in the contest Connie.

When the evening cools it is such a delight from humidity of a sweltering day. Thank you Vijay. Summer is my least favorite season, yet caring for my granddaughter while she is free of school makes up for the uncomfortable heat. : )
