Hot arid summer, I yearn for cooling rain this endless heat wave; my once lush lawn’s now brown and from the use of sprinklers I must refrain we should conserve water as others will frown I depend on raindrops from my water butt - can’t use a hosepipe as my neighbours may tut! My wilting plants urgently need a cool drink a rain shower may rescue them from the brink ababccdd rhyme scheme Checked with how many syllables Picture me a summer Rispetto Contest Sponsored by Barry Stebbings 7/8/18

Love the picture, the caption, and (of course) the poem too!! Congrats on your win in the contest. Elephants … hosepipes … neighbors may tut … Jan, you have provided me laughs galore! Thank you, my friend.

Wish we had an elephant to water the garden because a hosepipe ban has now been imposed from last Friday... I must have had a premonition as we were told by a friend who used to work for the water authority that 'it would never happen' !!!:-) hugs Jan xx

This is darling! I can totally relate, although things are still green here. However the forecast is 10 days in a row of 100 degree weather and above. So then I will truly relate! Good luck in the contest, Jan. Well written.

I have never known such a warm dry spell Caren, the ground is crying out for water, I thought my strawberry crop would be awesome this year from the amount of flowers I had but the fruit are tiny due to lack of fluid:-( hugs Jan xx

I've never known such a prolonged dry spell, the seafarers are suffering, we don't have bans on using sprinklers/ hosepipes yet but I am being more mindful about using excess water
