Summer of the North

I look at the mist and gloom
and I'm rapt in thought of
the northern summer
for though I stand on the equator
For that is my station in truth
Yet this is but cold and misty
For if the truth be told
That is how things stand here
On the slopes of Mt Kenya
In the hot summer of the north.

The coldness that seeps into our hearts can be beyond even the heat of the equator's sun.
