Summer Night Without Your Spouse

When the silver moon tangoes out, with a lyrical hum,
And my heart beats like the gentlest drum.

Then, does my warm breathing hearspeed,
Oh, it is then, you, just you, I so lovingly need!

Come here, oh so close, bright, sweetheart of mine,
Crystal Anniversary glasses of chilled, Chardonnay wine.

It is then..that with moonlit tears do I awaken,
The sad realization, by God, was ‘twas years ago you were taken!

Hi Pangie! I suspected from the title that I was in for an emotional offering. That realization of loss is a hard pill to swallow, especially after such a beautiful romantic first part of the poem. The older we grow, the more we tend to rely on special memories. ~ Hope you are keeping well, my friend. Best regards // paul

Hi Paul…i do not usually groan over loss poems style, but loss hurts. I am well, yes for being practically the age of Moses! I hope you are well, too Paul. I just posted a couplet you might. It has a joyful ending! “Pangie”

Hello Panagiota, it must be hard on a moonlit evening to be without your loving husband. Yet you have good memories of those times. Hugs. /Darlene/
