Summer My Season
summer my season of choice
because of baseball season
play ball that’s my only voice
that’s not the only reason
maybe a few picnics
after a few more swims
and some more athletics
outside instead of gyms
I was born in the summer
and loved summer as a kid
up north winter’s a bummer
summer no ice to skid
sunshine and crime comes with it
beaches and travels come too
but in the bleachers I’ll sit
as long as it’s not the zoo
