Summer Fun
Wanting to get up in time to applaud a new sun rising
Over the serenity of an idle sleepy lake
As its blanket of fog rolls off into the horizon
While breathing perfumes of somnolent pines and grasses
Peppered with sharp contrast of the aromatic whiffs
Of hot perked coffee from my tall mug
Time stands still like nowhere else on earth
This cottage living in harmony with nature
Everything comes to life but ever so slowly
By far, a most divine and supernatural hour
Easing into a day of frolic and adventure
With the taste of freedom on our lips
Some will splish slash all day long
Or explore, canoe or go fishing
Others sunbathe like immortal goddesses
Or read a romance in the shade
Friends drop by for a glass or barbecue
Lounging well into the night
Counting the stars and spotting traveling comets
Sighs in tune with the moon drown out the chants of crickets
This is by far the best way to take in the summer
And make heartwarming memories to last a lifetime
