Summer Fling

It started out as a summer fling
Just a short period of bliss
In the end there would be no ring
Only time that I would miss

It broke my happy heart
When it was time to go
I never wanted to be apart
But it was too late for you to know

Never again would you be near
Alas you would remain gone
How I wished you were here
But life must continue to go on
