Summer Drought

Summer sun became hot she burned and blistered the flora and fauna below the heads of the wheat cried for they were empty the harvest was none the leaves turned brown and the water turned green blue algae was found now lakes begged for rain but the drought continued on the lawns became dry and flowers began to cry yet sun continued to shine hot and heavy each day chasing the rain clouds away drought was here to stay.

Indeed it has been a long, hot summer; driest summer I can remember...going all the way back to at least 1983 I should have to say. Your poem certainly invokes the mood of the present season with it's hot and humid weather and a severe lack of rain. Nicely composed, Phyllis! My very best regards. :) john

Water is life and we need to conserve it. We have restrictions here in Hawaii of what time we can water but so far we have had enough rain. But my kids in California really have to be aware. A great poem sharing the woes of drought Phyl. I hope you are feeling well? Hugs, Connie
