Summer Drought
Summer sun became hot
she burned and blistered
the flora and fauna below
the heads of the wheat
cried for they were empty
the harvest was none
the leaves turned brown
and the water turned green
blue algae was found
now lakes begged for rain
but the drought continued on
the lawns became dry
and flowers began to cry
yet sun continued to shine
hot and heavy each day
chasing the rain clouds away
drought was here to stay.
