Summer Day

watch the sunrise
     over a pristine lake
Walk in the verdant woods
as the day rolls by
in early July
      the full beauty of
       the eastern lands
  reveals itself
           Sweet smell of
woodland flowers on the breeze
We walk through the forest
             to a long forgotten clearing
Did elves live and cavort here in ancient times?
        Enchantment arrives
when a deer comes into view
we watch with eyes wide open
      our sense of fantasy
           and wonder
   takes over
Sunlight dancing through the leaves
      forms patterns
  on the forest floor
