Summer child

You give your heart out on a silver platter
Instead of getting theirs you’re fed your own crumbs
They’re always doing half of what they’re expected,
“that’s the way the game is played” you’ll be told

Surprised they gave you anything at all,
you kept shooting for the stars
That’s just the way life goes
your heart breaks for the first time
That’s just the way love works
your crush will crush something kind
It’s not your fault,
Summer child
