Summer Breeze
SUMMER BREEZE
Sweet summer breeze
caress me like two warm hands,
flow around me and through me,
embrace me like a warm sea;
play soft near silent melodies
on the grass and in the leaves.
Spare me the strong, cold wind,
the steadily increasing,
howling crescendo of early winter;
that biting coldness on the hands,
chilling dampness to the bones.
Winter whirling, screaming around my ears,
to become a thousand demons of anguish;
life doomed to ice and forever barren.
Bring back my spring with its coolness
only of green grass covered by shade;
bring back this warmth so comforting
and love me like a pampered child.
Knowing that time can not be altered
I will sit and dream my futile dream;
to forget the spring of my youth lost to war
my fate to never see a youthful summer.
What else can I do but dream in vain
since time itself will not be altered;
destiny decrees what I will lose
to begin my awesome early winter.
