the swash of cold waves, ankle-deep, twines burning sand - infinite surging oil of coconut on darkening flesh, the sun - surf and splash sizzle

Kim, these haikus so emphasize the "splash," "sizzle," smell of coconut oil and the cooling waves! Well done! Congratulations on your winning placement! Blessings!

I chose to read this from your listing Kim as I've read several beach themed poems today from Soupers and enjoyed them all. Your descriptions are great. I'm often unsure about haikus - probably because I have difficulty writing them myself and not all have left an impression on me - but these two totally hit the mark. How come I can smell that coconut oil and feel the cold waves? :) Cheers - Gary

I know I try to visualize myself there and of course I know some things about the sea. I so appreciate your feedback, Gary! I don’t always know if I get haikus right but I keep trying! Blessings!

Your summer beach sounds heavenly, Kim, especially for those who, for various reasons, do not have the opportunity to enjoy it. I live on an island, and the beach is never too far away. Of course, the sun's temptation has to be handled with caution. ~ Regards // paul

Oh this is a fun write! I think I'll go buy some Coppertone and go into the backyard and let my memories drift back to the teenage days! This brought back happy memories Kim, I love the beach! <3
