Summer
Thunder booms, lightning cracks open the sky.
Under the shelter of trees, birds and animal lie.
Safe from the winds that howl through the night,
Babies huddle next to parents shaking with fright.
Summer night enters with a crash and a bang.
Morning sun eases over the horizon
Coloring the dawn sky, the calm after the storm.
Wildlife slowy awakens, blinking in the morning light.
Shaking off the nights rain, drying in the welcome heat of the sun.
Some humans rush off to work
Coffees cup in hand, looking towards the sky.
Those left at home begin the mornings tasks,
Making a list of chores and groceries to buy.
Light from the morning sun shines into the window, brightening the house.
A long day of work for both
Then time spent with family.
Mowing the lawn, watering the garden
Lending a hand with the childrens homework.
Finally day ends, relaxing to the sound of distant thunder rumbling.
Natures day ends as well, as the evening sky darkens.
Flower petals close to the night.
Birds cuddle their young at the nest,
Sharing their warmth as the suns heat fades.
Night animals appear, wary of the distant thunder.
Raindrops start slowly, dotting the sand.
Rabbits and other night creatures make for their homes.
The thunder moves closer, lightning flashes above.
People safe asleep in thier beds, lightnings brightness flashes on closed eyes.
Outside nightcrawlers glide silently, no eyes to blink.
