In midst of evading sounds and shadows Lurks the soulless in search of reasoning Whilst in the fullness, a youth bud still grows Yet heard less, seen less, and not be wanting. Death be heard, death be seen, what does it mean The dearly departed, was it so dear Having lived those years till age of nineteen And suicide caused the family smear. A precious life gone, was it worth the price For whilst that soul lived and was being ignored Gladly chooses a way, self-sacrifice A soul leaves behind a life as pictured. In midst of evading sounds and shadows Lurks the soulless in search of reasoning. Bravo for tackling a subject which many shy away from William it seems suicide is a taboo subject for many. After the suicide of a local girl I wrote a poem called being bullied . Will try and write for the contest but I struggle with sonnet form. Hugs Jan xx

Why young guys choose suicide ! So shocking ! Those who lose Dear Ones know the suffering.

A wonderfully written sonnet on a subject that many don’t speak of out loud. Your thoughts are deep and even more so for those who know families that have suffered through this. Nicely penned, William.

Emotional pain more so than physical is the cause for many young people to want to leave early. Subtle signs are usually present but go unnoticed. The more we speak about suicide the better we will understand it and possibly be able to help those with the greatest need. Your poem is powerful and profound. Bravo! : )

Superb write, my friend ... wonderful imagery, powerful phrasing and impact, excellent flow and story, and a topic we do not approach enough, in my opinion, (and whenever I DO, I rarely get comments). We MUST talk more about it, or we'll never change it. This is going to my favs, (and I don't do that much, lol). Keep up the fantastic work, William - good, good stuff! :-)

My heartfelt thanks for your exhilarating commentary. 'Tis true that comments will be few and far in between on such subject matter, for even what is swept under the rug, will sooner or later, still be swept clean ~ William
