Sugery To the Heart

I met a doctor who told me about this new procedure
A procedure to replace my heart with a brand new improved one
I could hear his questions in my ear yet my mind was where my attention lied
A new start
a new heart?
He asked?
Want to meet the new me?
the new me who doesn't care about you?
I wish I could get a new start
mend this old broken heart
rewind time before I cared
So I could do it differently
So I could prevent this ache
The doctor repeated the same sentence as last time
yet this time I didn't need time to think I had my answer
I wouldn't want a new start
Not even if I could stop all the hurt
cause if I never met you I would never know
what life feels like
What it feels like to have your heart beat fast
       and not slow
If I could do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing
Time has a way of healing all wounds eventually
                   A new start?
                   Maybe a new heart?
                   I'd say no deal
cause this heart I have is real
When it beats for you like it does
                      I know I wasn't dreaming
I know I really was in love
