Suddenly, Swans

Breath, taken
Defined ... elegance
Like long, white, snowy mountain trails
In movement and motive, agile
A graceful purpose, nearing natural perfection
Precision of mobility and senses
Dynamism and dance, slipping silent
Intent and deliberate in each effort and endeavor
Yet their motion itself is a lesson in potential
To move through their environs, attuned
Sounds and smells and sights to accommodate
Ever aware of their surroundings ... safety
A partnership with each other, with their habitat
Still, everything done in such smooth and sacred beauty
The soundless wakes left in a cool glass pond
Playful dips-and-bobs as they feed - a grand ballet
Confident, bracing power as they breach the sky on wing
The triumphant call of a cob to his mate
All such a magnificent and blessed surprise, this gray day ...
Lonesome me, then suddenly ... swans.
