Suddenly Swans

There is a fairy tale I remember from my childhood,
the fairy tale of the delivery swans that worked for an evil sorceress.
«Behave yourself,» my mom used to say. «Or they will take you away.»
«Why does the evil sorceress kidnap only naughty children?» I asked.
«When you grow up, you'll understand».
I grew up but I still don’t understand
why they don’t come to take me away.
Don’t you see, my beautiful evil sorceress,
I misbehave,
I drink,
I play the fool,
I write verses
and I look toward the enchanted forest for days, looking for your swans.

There is a fairytale where eleven princes were turned into wild swans by the Kings wicked new wife who was really a witch. It is called the Wild Swans by Hans Christian Andersen. In his story the swans were good and we're finally saved and be came men again. I enjoyed your take on the contest Kurt. : )

Hilarious that you are wanting to be taken away; but then again, aren't we all?
