Article: Cresskill-Closter Daily News

Suddenly Swans It was not 'suddenly swans' anymore- just one lonely lady swan, bereft with a broken heart. Her mate was gone. Swans stay together for life; much like humans, miss and grieve over death. She had stopped eating, noted the caretakers at Closter Nature Preserve, in New Jersey. The swan's owner and caretakers vowed to help. Another swan, a male- forty miles north- Cornwall, New York, was living the same forlorn nightmare with the loss of his mate- paddling around in circles with no purpose. Swans have very complex relationships, more intense than we realize. Working out consents and logistics, they moved Miss Swan to the Cornwall lake to be with Mr. Swan. The attraction was nearly instant and within an hour, she was fluffing her feathers and preening for him- then they began, side by side, swimming together. That special day, on October 13, 2015, the lake- once again, magically became- 'suddenly swans'.
