Suddenly
Suddenly there he was
taking words, taking breath
erasing every other memory
and there was only him.
Suddenly there was life,
an able, proffered hand
extended to resuscitate a soul;
to rejuvenate a heart.
Suddenly there was fire,
there were arms and mouths uncensored,
freely giving, freely taking,
exhausting of breath.
Suddenly there was safety,
there was patience; there was warmth,
the calm lightly dusting,
whispering a promise.
And suddenly there he was,
and suddenly there was love.
