Sudden Down: Lonliness
It's like standing in a crowded room
then suddenly everything freezes
everything is still going on,
but you are no longer there.
You are a part of the crowd,
but you aren't part of them;
something claws at your heart,
and it pricks at the bubble of fear.
How it is that happened
there is no room left to wonder it
the isolating loneliness is taking up all your space
filling the warm void with something homeless
it roams in the wasteland
the heart calls alone.
They all still smile around you
and you keep trying to,
but the tug inside is pulling you far off
so quick find something to hold onto.
Pull up the mask,
paint on the perfect smile,
give the strings to the puppeteer,
recite the lines, memorize that all is fine
repeat all the lies.
Faster, more fluent now or someone just might see.
Standing in the crowd, but who are you to them?
Don't look them in the eyes,
just in case they notice,
who you are isn't who you just were,
remember the act must be perfect.
No space left now
it takes to much energy to breathe,
excuse yourself from their presence,
let the monster now feed.
Tomorrow it will be better
act like there was no today
but for now concentrate
to bleed the loneliness away.
