One line edited after the fact.

With my eyes I trace the icy slice of a glistening lake which mirrors autumn’s sky. Its glacial blue enchants me. I almost taste the bracing breeze rustling trees’ surviving vivid leaves. Cool blue sky will soon succumb to dusk. Mauve merges with coral blossoms. I wait . . . watching and breathing in sublimity as sapphire captures sky. On its canvas heaven’s stars soon will dance.

This wasn't really a contest, but an opportunity to showcase an Na poem.. but I bet you knew that... I wonder how many Na's you have in your 10,000 plus poems on here lol

Dear andrea, i just wanted to say this is one of the best nonets entered for my nonet contest, it was with a heavy heart i had to not place this because of syllable count in “ “ of a glistening lake” but just hope you would know i just love everything about this from imagery to the flow and how magical it all sounds. Thank you for supporting my contests always

thanks, I wish I could use it again somehow. in another contest. It was one of my personal favorites of my own writing this month. There are lots of words that lose a syllable the way we speak them. I use howmanysyllables.com . I am thinking I confused my question about rustling for the word glistening and then I went and changed the line above it to plural so I could accommodate glistening as two syllable. I am messing up so much lately. And Emile's contest has a glitch on me and is only showing a poem that I never entered. No matter what i do, it won't let me remove it. It's a blue day.

Yes it is the same with the word “ rhythm” its one syllable but sounds like 2.. which is why i stick to howmanysyllables.com .. i actually write my nonets on the counter.. cus without it ill be a mess… but so many got syllables wrong this time.. its ok. But this nonet is perfect despite that error

I think I looked up rustling , wondering if that one might be three syllables, since it's the word rustle plus ing. then when I wrote glistening, I was so sure I had looked that one up too, but I guess I did not because I checked two syllable counters and couldn't find one that shows two syllable. I always find it weird that the way a word is actually pronounced by some people is only shown with one pronunciation. I actually had changed the first time I wrote it as "a slice of.." to "slices" so that I could put the extra syllable "of" onto the line with five syllables. I wish I knew what the heck I was looking at.

Dear andrea i use “howmanysyllables.com” for syllables.. what did you use? I was a bit shocked too to see you would ever do a syllable error. I think ive also mentioned to use that syllable counter as some counters are different to others.. hmm .. please check with that counter as this is a poetic gem really.. literally made my heart heavy as this is one of the best nonets iv read ever.

or maybe I mixed up that I looked up rustling, wondering if it was two or three syllables. In my area of the world, many people pronounce glistening as glis/ning and they omit the T and don't pronounce the "en" I sure wish it was glistening I had looked up and not just rustling, which I pronounce also without a T sound.

There are so many colors and images here that remind me of the facets of a diamond. I think the shape influenced me a bit. But how do I ever look at a diamond the same way? You have some very powerful images that can influence a soul like me. It's all really good!!
