Style

noun
noun: style; plural noun: styles; ?a particular procedure by which something is done; a manner or way.
Example; “different styles of management”

Style? Do I have a style?
Quite partial to lists
They’re easy to nail
Once you find the rhythm of the thing

Occasionally delve into Japanese
Keeps the words fresh
Cuts out the excess
Challenges sometimes too

Just let it flow mostly
See what comes, occurs
Start with a line
That may or may not launch it

Be informed, to an extent
To an ongoing current event
Annoyingly start rhyming midway
Then come to an abrupt halt

(I’m on a bit of a bracket fascination
If you hadn’t noticed)
(Apologies, if you’ve not actually seen
My most recent stuff, my list)

Be inspired, classic literature
My choice, not consensus
Find a quote or Latin phrase
That a few strokes later send us

On another verse drive
Another poem-mobile
An odd Dylan lyric
Like “how does it feel?”

So do I have a style
Can I copyright my way
Instantly recognisable
No, they don’t come that way

I’ll plow the lonely furrow
Doubting anyone will read them
Keep creating shapes on the page
After I’m gone, will you feed them?
