Stumped

Have you ever wanted something
So bad, that in thinking about it,
you feel this huge well of tears rising up?
But you push it down,
pull the plug from the drain…
since you need to be where you are,
but you don’t really want to be there,
just tired.

Need trumping want.

It’s a bit confusing, actually…
because you, in effect,
become that need,
not necessarily wanted, just needed.

But isn’t being needed,
something we all want?

Or I could be wrong…
not everybody wants to be needed-

Since it can equate to a lifetime
of just giving too much of yourself,
that you run the risk of losing that self,
that you don’t even know
what you want anymore

Maybe it would also help
if every once in a while,
we acknowledge that
being wanted is something
that we also need?

Just to keep us sane, I suppose.

To be needed is too different
from being wanted.

One word is for survival,
while the other is for satisfaction.

So which would you choose to be?

**this is pretty rough,
just went on a sort of crazy frame of mind here
--as for my title, hmm was just really stumped what to title it?
I guess it also works ;)

nikks i'm sure you know that chris has been banned from soup because of his poem about ZOO...there was nothing inciting in his message; it was just an honest outpour of his feelings re a sister-site of TPS , poemzoo.com which carries all our pieces... admin did not advise us of such move; thus, a lot were shocked!.. an earlier blog re this issue was deleted by TPS though cyndi posted a new one ( hope you can read it )... your thoughts?.. we want chris back!.. this is so sad!

Needing and wanting - the human condition in a nutshell. You spin it so well, had to pay close attention to what you were saying byt it plays out beautifully. :)

We All Need to be Wanted.... is my title for your work. Deep and reflective. How many people feel exactly this way, Nikko? Many, I am sure of it. So nice to read your work, darlin. This is only the preface. Gwendolen

Sometime the choice are made for us.. We tend to fit in the mold without having a say and we continue to be the crutch that hold things in place.. And yep you get lost in that moment until you wake up and be a little "selfish" by deciding what is it that makes me happy.. Then again some just thrive on being needed and feel lost when no one needs them.. Did I just confuse you?? Hopefully not.. Awesome write, this speaks to me.. Reminds me of something or should I say someone? *mwahugs*
